FAQ
What is XBolo?
XBolo is a clone of the classic game Bolo written by Stuart Cheshire in the late 80’s. It’s a multiplayer action/strategy tank game played over the internet or LAN where 2 or more people can battle. The original can be found at http://www.lgm.com/bolo/. The original code has been ported to Mac OS X at http://www.nubolo.net/.
When I host a game no one can join. Why is that?
Make sure you have port forwarding turned on you router to your computer on the port you host the game. You probably will need to setup your computer to use a static IP in your subnet and login to your router’s web interface, usually http://192.168.1.1/ or http://10.0.1.1/ to configure port forwarding to your host’s IP. Make sure you forward both TCP and UDP. Check your router’s documentation for help.
When I host a game people get kicked out when they join. Why is that?
Make sure you have both TCP and UDP forwarded on the port you hosted the game. You most likely just have TCP forwarded.

XBolo does not work with the original Bolo or WinBolo. And don’t ask for it either!
Was XBolo develeped using the original Bolo source code?
XBolo has been developed without the original source code although the look and sound effects were captured from the original game.
Is XBolo Open Source?
XBolo is released under creative commons. Meaning it’s free to use but the source is kept secret with good reason. Besides being a seaming pile of poop, if it fell into the wrong hands players would be able to cheat.
Who wrote XBolo?
Robert Chrzanowski a Bachlor of Science Graduate of Milwaukee Wisconsin. He just can’t get enough of this great game and spends what little free time he has tweaking it.
